Lovely 15 karat multi-color gold chalcedony and garnet Maltese Cross, circa 1820. The cross is beautifully made with gold engraved and multi-colored gold "leaves" surrounding a central cabachon garnet. The garnet is foil back to reflect light . The four sections of the cross are in carved chalcedony. The color of the chalcedony varies from white against the skin to a lovely blueish /white against other fabrics.
It measures 1 7/8ths across and down. The measurements with the bail are 1 1/2 inches long.
It can be worn with a ribbon as shown, or a chain of choice.
It is the perfect size to grace a neck. Excellent condition.
