This Victorian bracelet is truly unique and beautiful. It is completely made by hand with fine engraving and superior design. It has plaques of lapis, malachite and jasper all secured by hand pierced engraved mounts. These plaques are interspersed with oval, intricate gold barrel shaped, engraved elements. The bracelet set in 15 karat gold, terminates with a secure padlock centered with a central, carved malachite stone. The padlock is a work of art, hand engraved with pierced gold with a surmount of an entwined serpent. The reverse of the padlock has a curved glass locket. It opens and closes securely by opening the padlock and connecting the opposing side of the bracelet.
It measures 7 1/2 inches long X 1/4 inches wide. There is a tiny edge chip on one of the jasper stones. Overall condition is excellent.
It is remarkable not only for its design and proportions but also by the magnificent gold work and engraving.
The bracelet is completely original and retains a rich gold patina.
Although it is over 150 years old, it still is so relevant to today's fashions. Perfect for dress or casual wear.
Remarkable!
