This heart is special in many respects. It is hand made silver and vermeil and designed in two sections that articulate. There are 48 rose cut diamonds that are foil back and set by hand in rub over collets thought the entire composition.. The top section which is symbolic of loyalty has a flaming sword and the other an arrow.
The heart itself is made entirely by hand and is as fine as lace. It is actually a heart within a heart, set with diamonds that radiate light with every movement. Unlike new diamonds, they have a special hue created by the early hand cut stone and the foil beneath. It is why it is uniquely beautiful and valued by collectors.
The diamond weight is approximate as the stones are measured in situ (in their setting). The center stone is .20 carat and the total weight 1.30 . This is impressive as most of the hearts from this period of design have smaller stones.
It measures 2 7/8ths from the top loop to the bottom of the heart X 1 1/2 inches across.
There are French marks on the top loop and a mark of an "S" on the back loop. This loop detaches the top section so the heart could be worn alone if desired. It is completely original and in excellent condition.
It is beautiful with a ribbon or a cord which I will include. Equally beautiful on a long or short chain.
Uniquely beautiful, circa 1820
