This ancient chalcedony necklace is 2-3rd century BC- 2nd Century AD and is from Afghanistan . I was fortunate to be able to purchase part of a lifetime collection of ancient beads from a renowned jewelry designer's estate.
This necklace is composed of 23 rare, blue chalcedony beads.
Ancient blue chalcedony is prized and collected for its rarity. It has a beautiful range of color and translucency.
The freeform, natural colored beads are interspersed with 22 karat gold 19th century Indian beads. These gold beads are hand-made in the tradition of a sheet of gold place upon a wax mold. They have a rich gold patina and are not modern beads. The necklace terminates with a fine 18 karat, detailed, two part clasp.
It measures 19.5 inches and is 5/8ths across the widest bead.
