This is perhaps the most sentimental and finest fob I have ever offered for sale. It is English, circa 1830 and rendered in 15 karat gold.
It is a "posy" basket filled with symbolism and love. It has roses for love, grapes for abundance, and of course the pansy, symbolizing the French pensee or "think of me" in the language of flowers.
It is a basket of flowers for a proposal. The basket set with incredible multi-colored gold details has a cornelian at the bottom which is inscribed "Hurry -Up". The suitor which would have been a very wealthy man, is impatient and asks his intended for an answer. How wonderful, unique and sentimental. Who could resist this proposal?
It is completely original and in excellent condition. The pansy has minor enamel loss,
It measures 7/8th inches across X 3/4 inches down. It weighs 12.3 grams.
It is singularly beautiful and has the most wonderful sentiment and symbolism.
One of a kind. The sentiment is everlasting.
England, circa 1830
