This is quite a beautiful French ring both in design, and in the finishing of the gold. I was one of my favorite purchases on a recent buying trip to Paris. The band is completely hand finished with texturedd matte gold. Ivy leaves are carved on either side of a vibrant, central cushion cut diamond. The band tapers, but has a gentle rise in the center to accent the leaves and the setting of the diamond.
The gypsy set 20 point diamond is a quality stone, white, G color VS clarity. The surround of ivy leaves is symbolic of love never ending, kept alive as ivy in winter never dies and remains vibrant through the seasons of life.
It retains a French guarantee stamp, an eagle for 18 karat gold and a maker's mark that is worn on the shank. It weighs 7 grams. The interior mark of 14 is a model number used by the finest French jewelry houses and is not a karat mark. The ring is 18 karat gold,
Condition is excellent. It retains a magnificent original patina. This ring is exemplary and has all the refinement expected of French jewelry.
France, circa 1900.
