Celebrating 25 years of Antiquing Bliss
Antonio Pineda Taxco Signed Modernist Silver Bracelet - image 1 of 5

Perhaps one of the most famous modernist designers in The Taxco School is Antonio Pineda. He worked with William Spratling, the American credited with founding the silver school. In 1941, he left the Spratling workshop to begin his own. He became one of the most prominent and influential of the designers, forging a modernist aesthetic joined with an amazing precision of design. His creations have been sold alongside famous silversmiths such as Georg Jensen at Gumps in CA. His works are featured in the permanent collection of the 20th century Mexican School in the Latin American wing of the Los Angeles Court Museum of Modern Art, LACMA.
This particular bracelet is his iconic design, a "C" shape which tapers and connects seamlessly with each link. Pineda was a master of design and this bracelet is testament to his skills. It drapes and moves perfectly on the wrist without any visible hinges, and closes with a tongue and groove, clasp. It has the original safety chain and retains a beautiful, unpolished patina.
The marks on the interior of the bracelet display a Crown, 970, ZZ 785 and a Bell mark with a number 17. The 970 silver is the Antonio favorite standard of purity, which is higher than the Sterling standard of 925. It weighs an impressive 85.3 grams.
This bracelet can be dated to 1953.
The bracelet measures 7 1/2 interior circumference X 7/8ths width and can comfortably fit an average wrist. it measures slightly over 8 inches around the surface. Excellent, original condition.
An original, signed ,wonderful bracelet created by a master artisan.
