This platinum, gold and diamond bar pin is circa 1915. It has fine, hand pierced platinum settings with 3 old European cut diamonds weighing approximately .65 cts. The 36 old mine diamonds finely accent the central stones, and are approximately 1 carat. The diamonds range from H-I-J and are VS-SI. The total diamond weight is approximately 1.65 carats.
This period of platinum work is done by the hand of a skilled artisan. There are fine milligram accents throughout the pierced work adding visual texture. The brooch is rendered like fine lace. It has a trombone shaped, secure 14k brooch mounts and closure. The use of platinum and white gold was used during this period of design.
This can be the perfect accessory for a shirt, or sweater as it is elegant and never overdone. Wear it with a bar pin, as shown in the pictures for added interest. Both brooches are offered for sale.
The reverse has minor evidence of solder only on the reverse and is in very good condition.
US origin, circa 1915
