These petit, coral, 18 karat gold earrings are French, circa 1820. They are the desirable pineapple cut of coral found in early earrings and are completely original. The coral is natural and a beautiful color especially paired with the rich color of gold. The gold work is all done by hand and beautifully rendered. The earrings have two parts and the bottom section gently articulates.
The ear wires are the original back to front and should be used by someone who is knowledgeable in this type of fastening. It takes a gentle hand and the rewards are worth the effort, as these are lovely in scale and condition.
They measure 1 1/2 inches long X slightly less than 1/2 inches across the bottom.
They retain a French poincon, (gold guarantee mark) of a ram's head used between 1819 and 1838.
France, circa 1820
