These earrings are French, 18 karat gold and rose diamond. They are designed with two parts, a single rose cut diamond on top and a cluster of rose cut diamonds that articulate on the bottom. The diamonds are set, closed back and foiled to reflect the light. They are hand cut and vary stone to stone and set on rub over gold collets. The earrings have a beautiful mirror like quality, created by the foil beneath each diamond. The two part design is classic and easily worn day or evening.
Each earring has a central rose cut that is approximately 1/2 carat each. There are eighteen smaller rose cut stones of approximately 7.5 pts. The total carat weight of both earrings is approximately 2.35 carats. They diamonds are IJ color and are S1 clarity. The stones have the imperfections characteristic of rose cut diamonds that were hand cut and set in this time period. I had my jeweler add loops at the top which are not seen when worn, to assure a perfect fit on the ears.
They measure 7/8ths inches long X 1/2 inches across the bottom.
They retain a French touch mark for 18 karat gold.
They will be presented in a black leather gift box.
French, circa 1890
