This is an antique French 800 silver, garnet and malachite bracelet, circa 1850. It is singular in design with a beautiful play of color. The silver is accented with vermeil (gold over silver) links and flowers. The malachite and flat cut, almandine garnets are also set in vermeil. Each disk is centered with cabochon malachite and surrounded by garnets. There are fine gold florets applied to the silver between each garnet.
The bracelet has an articulating locket which is beautiful on the front as well as the back. It opens and reveals a fine strand of blond hair, a love token, protected through the centuries. The hair is easily removed by lifting the glass, if desired.
The bracelet measures 7 1/4 inches long X 3/4 inches wide. Condition is excellent, as is the original patina. The detail, design and execution are superb. There are French guarantee stamps, a boars head, for silver.
