This fancy link, 18 karat gold French chain is circa 1890. The chain has a beautiful hand worked link with an "X" motif separated by a length of oval rings. It measures 58 inches long X 1/8 inches wide and is 35.3 grams.
The patina is beautiful and completely original. It has a spring ring attached, which could easily be adjusted to be a clasp is desired. These chains are so desirable since they can be used for charms, lockets or worn alone. The long length enables this to be doubled or tripled around the neck. It retains French guarantee stamps for 18 karat gold on the end ring. It is simply the perfect accessory.
The gold work is finely done and the condition is excellent.
