This rare antique English diamond pendant is circa 1840. It is designed as a padlock of rock crystal set within a perimeter of rose cut diamonds. This form is rare, highly desirable, and I have never had the opportunity to sell one with this classic design.
The padlock is in form only and is not designed to open and close. The heart shape rock crystal is centered with a pearl surrounded with small rose diamonds. Each end of the padlock has a larger rose diamond accent. The back of the locket is rose gold vermeil, and the bail is silver top 15 carat gold. There is a removable crystal locket back. It will be presented in its original leather, velvet lined box.
It measures 2 inches long, including the bail X 1 1/4 inches across.
It is completely original and in excellent condition. It would be lovely paired with a black long cord or gold chain of choice. Also perfect worn with a necklace of small pearls, as shown. I will include a cord, if desired.
England, circa 1840
