These French antique 18 karat gold and diamond earrings, are circa 1830. They are designed as a flower head, set with foil back rose cut diamonds. The diamonds are set in silver in typical fashion of the time period with foil beneath the stones. The color of the diamonds are the mellow gray with hints of color so beautiful and distinctive in early jewelry. The central cluster is surrounded by gold semi-circles, forming a butter-cup. There is an early stamp of a rams head guarantee stamp for 18 karat gold on the ear wire. This Paris mark is rare to find and dates these earrings to the period of 1819-1838.
The clusters are larger than typically seen, measuring 5/8ths. The length with the bail is 1 inch. It retains the original back to front ear wires. They are in excellent condition and completely original. The pale rose gold and silver retain a beautiful patina.
They are charming earrings that glisten with every movement and are easily worn day or evening.
