This Victorian 15 karat gold necklace is English, circa 1850. It has translucent blue/gray faceted chalcedony stones set in gold hand crimped settings . The shape is appealing as it translates to a modern design, yet it is over 150 years old. The chalcedony takes on a lovely pale blue/gray hue with hints of lavender when it is against the skin. The facets across the surface of the stones create a magical color as light passes across the stones. It closes with a secure push clasp and is in fine condition. There are some chips on the back of the stones, most likely done when the stones were originally set. This are not visible from the front and mentioned only for accuracy.
The necklace measures 15 inches long and would grace a slender neck. The largest agate measures 3/4 inches down X 7/8 inches across. The clasp measures 5/8 inches across X 1/2 inches down.
The design is easily worn casual or dress and the design is as relevant to today's fashion as it was 150 years ago. England, circa 1850.
