The allure of the serpent in jewelry is as relevant today as it was through the centuries. The snake, symbolizes everlasting love and became very popular when Prince Albert presented Queen Victoria with a snake ring upon their betrothal.
This example is dramatic, as the snake coils five times around the wrist. It has a finely engraved head and a smooth well rendered realistic body. The bracelet would fit an average to large wrist. It was not designed to slip on, but rather to wind around the wrist beginning with the tail. It is unmarked typical of Victorian jewelry, but has been fully tested for sterling. It is in excellent condition with only very, minute evidence of wear. It weighs 49.6 grams.
Circa, 1900 and very beautiful.
