This Regency card table is a excellent example of the finest Georgian style and craftsmanship of that period.
The top is veneered with well chosen flame figured mahogany, and framed with a cross banded border of rosewood which has been edged on both sides with boxwood stringing. This is repeated on the facing edges of both leaves.
The frieze has been thoughtfully picked out and highlighted with inset borders of fine rosewood line and trifoliate decoration. Just enough to lift the design, and 'catch the eye'
The legs are beautifully turned, and nicely tapered. They have a reeded design finishing with elegant teardrop shaped feet.
Both rear legs have their original knuckle joints which open at 45 degrees to support the top leaf, The hinges to the leaves are original also and show no sign of damage.
The top opens to an elegantly shaped card playing surface. It has a newly replaced light grey baize which is framed with a narrow border of cross banded mahogany and boxwood stringing.
An exceptional table.
