This set of early 1900’s Macey oak stacking or sectional bookcases consists of a top and bottom with 4 bookcase sections. It has the original old glass and hardware. The backs are also original and have the Macey decals. The finish is still in very good condition. The shelves have some expected wear from books being slid in and out. There is a small repair on the top, shown in a photo.
This style of sectional bookcase is often referred to as a barrister bookcase. Indeed, they were very popular in law offices, but also in schools, libraries and other office settings. The Macey company was based in Grand Rapids. Michigan and went on to produce other types of office furniture.
The overall height is 62 ¼ inches, depth is 12 ½ inches at the base which is the deepest point and width is 34 inches. Inside dimensions are 11 inches tall, 10 inches deep and 32 inches wide. The cases will accommodate books up to 11 inches tall.
