Here is a nice lot of miniature furniture if you are working to fill your doll house. There is a rocking chair, bench, 2 chests of drawers, a small side table, a desk or buffet table, a trundle bed with bedding, stairs for the bed, two rugs and some small miniature items. Everything is of nice quality and my best guess is that they are around 20-25 years old, but I’m not sure. Here’s a brief description of each item – please let me know if you need additional information.
Rocking Chair – this is 4 1/4 inches tall to the top. It has a ladder back and an interesting rope seat, which might look nice with a little cushion on it. There is a remnant of a paper label underneath.
Bench or foot stool – this is about 1 1/2 inches tall to the top of the cushion. It is covered in a beautiful piece of silk with a brocaded pansy design in the center - the silk looks to be very old and there is green braid trim around the edge. It's a nice little bench.
Chest of drawers #1 – this is 4 1/4 inches tall. It has gold metal pulls and it looks like five drawers, but the bottom two are actually one. There is also a thin writing surface pull out at the top.
Chest of drawers #2 – this is 4 1/4 inches tall. It has 4 larger drawers and drawers that look like 4 smaller drawers on top. The pulls are little wood knobs.
Side table – this is 2 1/2 inches tall with one working drawer – not sure, but I think this is Federal or Sheridan style with long thin legs? It has a tiny scratch on top which is probably easy to conceal.
Writing desk, vanity or server – this is 3 inches tall, with long Queen Anne styled legs. It has one long drawer on top and 3 smaller working drawers under that. There are two tiny dings on the top - again, probably easy to conceal.
Trundle rope bed – this is a two piece bed with the smaller section that fits under the larger section (these were used throughout the 17th and 18th centuries). Both sections have blue ticking striped mattresses. The larger poster bed has a flat sheet around the mattress and a second flat sheet under the nice eyelet spread. There is also a cute eyelet trimmed pillow case on the pillow. The trundle bed also has a flat sheet around the mattress and one across the bed. There is also another eyelet trimmed case on the pillow. Both have rope stringing under the mattresses - they are nicely made. The larger bed is 5 inches tall to the top of the posts, 7 inches long and almost 4 inches wide – very nice set. The smaller bed is 6 inches long, just under 4 inches wide and 1 1/2 inches tall.
Bed stairs – these are 1 3/4 inches tall and the two steps are covered in nice brocade fabric.
Two rugs – the larger is a cotton loop rug that is 7 3/4 inches x 6 inches. It is really nicely made mostly of tiny French knots. It looks hand done. The smaller is a braided wool yarn rug – 5 inches x 3 1/4 inches - again, very nice quality.
Miniatures – a small three piece silver metal vanity set; a metal candle stick holder, a bowl with yarn and knitting – this is really sweet. The bowl is an acorn top and the knitting needs are straight pins – there is even a very tiny knitted project in the works! And, the tiniest little Staffordshire pottery type sheep figurine. I really love the little figurine, but have to take my glasses off to see it!
This is a good lot to fill up gaps you may have in your doll house. I have one started that is so far away from completion, that I don’t know if it will ever be furnished.
