This little doll is made of wood and has been dressed in mostly antique or vintage fabrics. She has painted features and a mohair wig. The limbs move at the shoulders and hips, but the clothing - which consists of a dress and a patterned silk petticoat is not removable. I set out to make one of these for myself as a doll that a larger doll could hold, but I enjoyed the process so I made more. I thought I would make 10 - a small collection for myself...but continue to make more. The doll itself (without the wig or stand) measures 2 1/2 inches. She has wearing a vintage cotton brocade dress. The background is chalk white with a floral print with mauves and sage green. She has a thin silver cord necklace and the dress is trimmed with coordinating sage green cord accents. As with all of the little ladies, she has a patterned gold silk petticoat. Her mohair wig is pinkish burgundy in a loose flowing style. She comes with a little wooden stand that can be removed and a decorative oval box covered with hand made paper. Some of the fabrics are more fragile than others and there may be slight losses fibers, etc. Also, some of the mohair is dyed and some is natural so there are variations within the color of the wig due to either the dye process or naturally occurring coloration. Signed, dated and numbered by the maker – this is Lady #38, and the first doll I've made this year. These would be for adult collectors and are not meant for children or as play dolls.
