France, c. 1910
It's hard not to love these delightful character boys made by SFBJ. I've had this sweet guy in my collection for many years. He has been a very well-behaved young man and is always polite around the girls. He has molded hair that still has a good bit of the original flocking. There are a few areas of loss, but I never thought they were too bad. He has amber glass eyes, and a smiling mouth with two molded teeth. He is on a fully jointed composition body with some typical chipping to the finish on the hands and some general age wear. There is more paint loss on the left hand. There is some residue from a sticker on his belly. He is wearing a nicely made nautical style outfit that is either black or very dark navy and cream houndstooth check with matching hat. The under piece is not a full shirt, more like a dickey if you remember those. That piece, the wide collar and the hat are trimmed with red. I don't know if this outfit is original...it is not new and it fits perfectly. He is wearing black socks and red leather boots with one buckle missing. I don't want to remove the shoes because I think the ribbons will break. He has a very faint line on the right side of his head near the eye. When I got him, this wasn't pointed out to me, but it looks to be a very faint hairline. Since you can't light this type of head from the top, I've tried to take as good a pic as possible. I have more pics that didn't fit (close up of hands, shoes), so let me know if you need to see those.
He is marked on the head: SFBJ / 235 / Paris / 6. A bit hard to part with this guy, but I'm downsizing a bit. US shipping only. My shipping charges are estimates only, any overcharge is promptly refunded.
