This little doll is made of wood and has been dressed in mostly antique or vintage fabrics. She has painted features and a mohair wig. The limbs move at the shoulders and hips, but the clothing - which consists of a dress and a patterned silk petticoat is not removable. I set out to make one of these for myself as a doll that a larger doll could hold, but I enjoyed the process. I thought I would make 10 - a small collection for myself...but continue to make more. The doll itself (without the wig or stand) measures 2 1/2 inches, just about 3 inches with the wig. She has wearing a brocade dress that has a woven floral pattern fabric, which I'm told is late 19th or early 20th century . The background is ecru with pale blue, green and gold accents. She has a tiny yellow glass bead necklace and a patterned gold silk petticoat. Her mohair wig is blond and has an accent that picks up the colors in her dress. She comes with a little wooden stand that can be removed and a decorative oval box. Some of the fabrics are more fragile than others and there may be slight losses to silk fibers, etc. Also, some of the mohair is dyed and some is natural so there are variations within the color of the wig due to either the dye process or naturally occurring coloration. The last picture shows some of the dolls that were made, but this listing is only for the one doll. Signed, dated and numbered by the maker – this is Lady #19. These would be for adult collectors and are not meant for children or as play dolls.
