This is a lovely early bisque shoulderhead doll marked "C" on the lower back edge, which I believe to be a product of the Kestner factory. She has a closed mouth, brown glass eyes and an old brown human hair wig. There is a cardboard pate and what looks like remnants of light blond hair. I had to loosen the pate, but it is filled with an old cotton stuffing wrapped with cotton string. This may have been original packing, I'm not sure. When I took the clothing off for the photos, it turned out the head was no longer attached - I think the old glue gave way. I'm going to leave it to the new owner to reglue or attach as desired, so the head will be wrapped separately from the body. She has what looks like a firing line or maybe a hairline on the top edge down from the opening. There is also a factory chip (glazed over) on the bottom front edge and a newer chip on the back edge. She has a nice complexion with peachy cheeks and full lips. She is on a gusseted kid, fashion type body with bisque lower arms. There is a firing line along the top of the left wrist, done in the making and not a crack. The kid body is soiled and there is some patching to the kid (the right front knee need could use some additional patching since it leaks a bit of sawdust). She is wearing an antique, possibly original two piece, polished cotton dress with lace trim. The fitted top closes in the back with 8 mother of pearl buttons. The skirt has an attached bustle in the back and a lace trimmed apron type of addition in the front. There is pleated trim along the hem. The pieces are age stained and need to be cleaned and the lace trim is torn in spots, but I leave that as well. She is wearing drawers, chemise and a petticoat. The petticoat has age tears and is really fragile and I have not removed the chemise for fear of damage. She has a great cardboard type hat that had some type of texture to it that has mostly worn off. The silk around the brim edge is worn as well, but it retains its great jacquard ribbon accent. This is a very pretty doll with lots of style. I have some additional photos that did not fit in the listing.
