This doll is German circa 1870-1880's. She has brown glass eyes that open and close with a weight - the same way that bisque doll eyes move. Her wax finish is in fairly good condition with nice coloring. She has a pretty pale blond mohair wig that has two braided buns in the back and long curl tendrils in front on either side. There is a cranberry velvet bow tied around her head that matches her dress. She is on a commercially made cloth body with leather sewed on boots, printed stockings and leather lower arms. The body is not original to the head, but they may have been together for some time now. She has a pretty antique dress that has a cranberry velvet top, hem border and cuffs. The skirt and sleeves are a heavy cream satin with a printed pattern. There is black ribbon with blue embroidered trim along the hem, cuffs and accent the bodice. There is a lace trim on the collar and cuffs and seven awesome cut steel button accents on the top. The dress closes in back with hook and eye closures. She doesn't have any undergarments at all - just the dress. As for the condition, as mentioned the wax is fairly good. There is a stable crack along the back of the shoulderplate. The cloth body is very soiled and the leather hands have soiling and wear but no missing fingers (a few are loose). The leather boots are worn as well...this doll was well loved in its past. The dress is in good condition with some wear mostly to the velvet portions and a few places where stitches may be a bit loose. Her eyes are functional, the left is set back just a bit further - mostly noticeable in the closed position, and there is a bit of a ding on her nose. She is sweet and displays nicely as it. Her dress is quite nice too.
