This is a really beautiful and early wooden doll cradle and I just love when they have the hood. I was told it is a Pennsylvania hooded cradle with hand cut nails. I don't know enough about the nails or how to tell the origin of this piece. I do know it's early and the finish on the outside is grain painted to look like oak. This is mostly visible on the sides The paint on the top of the hood is mostly worn. The interior is a lovely turquoise color. The hood is fastened with many tiny nails close together along the frame. There is a split on the frame of the hood and along the top and some wear to the tops of the rocker rungs. There is some other age and loose joints commensurate with the age of the piece. There is a tny remnant of a postage stamp on one side. The cradle is long and narrow and comes with an early hand sewn patchwork quilt. The quilt has tears and wear, but is looks really nice with the cradle. It has patchwork patterns on both sides. The cradle measures 20" long, 6" wide at the body and 10" wide at the rungs, 11.5" at the highest point. The dolls are not included with the cradle, but the larger doll is listed separately in my shop. The quilt is 46 3/4" x 20 1/2". This package is large and heavy. Postage calculates over $50 to the west coast. My shipping charges are estimates until the item is packaged and I have an actual destination. Any overcharge is promptly refunded. Once purchased and I have a destination, I can also look into 3-day shipping with UPS.
