This charming doll by Naida charter member, Muriel Bruyere is signed and dated 1964 on the back of the shoulder plate. She is also signed on the bottom of her tiny high button boots. She is obviously modeled after Renior's painting, Girl with a Watering Can. The doll appears to be a one of a kind creation as she seems to be modeled by hand rather than cast in a mold. The head, arms and feet are made of some type of clay or composition and she is on a cloth body. She is wearing lace trimmed pantalettes and a royal blue velvet dress, trimmed with lace and sequins for buttons. Her wavy blond mohair wig is accented with a red bow. She is an amazing recreation of the Renior, complete with her little metal watering can. She is in good condition with a few areas of wear mostly on the hands and a mark above one eyebrow. She has a lovely portrait face and is just a wonderful historical example of an early artist doll. She will come with an early Kimport doll stand.
