I've had this dress for years, it was purchased around Hyde Park NY. I just love the color and the simple, yet elegant construction. I always pictured it on a French doll, unfortunately I've never had a doll was suitable. The dress is made of cotton, all hand sewn. The color has not faded and it is really a deeper red than the picture show, most like picture 4. It will only fit a slim leather body doll I think with bisque arms. I've never had a compo body doll that it would fit. I have it pictured on a 19" artist Bru doll, but it could go on a doll maybe an inch larger I think. The skirt has very tiny gathers and is attached to the top with stitches. The neck and cuffs have simple lace trim and the dress closes in back with four mother of pearl buttons. I believe there may have been a hook and eye at the waist at one time, but it's no longer there. I love how the bodice has some gathers and a row of smocking stitches across the chest. There is no hem, the bottom of the dress is the edge of the fabric. Approximate measurements: Shoulder to waist:- 5 1/4"; sleeve: Shoulder to cuff 6"; waist to hem: 8 1/4"; shoulder seam to seam: 5 1/4"; neck opening: 6"; cuff opening: just about 4"; waist around: almost 10". Great dress for the right doll, or it looks just as lovely displayed on a dress form. Let me know if you need additional measurements. Free US shipping only.
