Pretty face antique doll with Chubby cheeks! German bisque head with shoulder plate. Original "Kidolene" leather-like body. Long brown curls. Nicely dressed in a Kate Greenaway little girl style. She's adorable!
Measures about 13" long.
I cannot make out the marks on the back of the shoulder plate. The body is glued to the shoulder very tightly and can't be peeled back. I am going by the previous owner's information/inventory page on this doll. Her inventory indicates this doll made by Heubach Koppelsdorf. She had her redressed and repaired in the 1970s and I am sure that the info was gleaned before the repairs.
Dates from the turn-of-the century.
Doll head is in very good condition. She has the cutest CHUBBY cheeks! No damage to the head. No repairs. Nice face coloring~not too high. Open mouth with teeth intact. Grey blue glass sleep eyes. They open and close with ease. No eye chips or cracks. Wig is replaced. Long brown curls.
The body is original. Has a red sticker that probably reads KIDOLENE (the gold lettering is faded). Leather like body. Jointed legs with metal buttons. Half of legs are cloth. Arms/shoulders have a sewn repair. Re-stuffed with new forearms and hands. Body is very sturdy with no leaking sawdust.
Sweet clothing! She's dressed in a Kate Greenaway little girl style of the day. Red and white striped cotton dress with black lace trim down the front. White cotton pinafore apron. Underneath, white cotton pantaloons and petticoat with eyelet lace trim. Black knit stockings and black shoes. The clothes were made for her and fit her nicely. They are extremely well made.
Clothes have little fading in areas. Nothing major!
**This doll was part of a local doll lovers collection! She was a true "old tyme" collector! She collected everything doll related and inventoried it all in many many albums. I'll be including the inventory page for this doll. It's just a neat piece of her history!
