Carnival items from the early part of the 1900's represented the lighter side of an America that was alternately prospering and sophisticated or devastated by war and domestic conflict. Whatever the country's condition the carnival was a way of letting it all go by - at least for a evening. A wonderful chalkware elephant figure, circa 1920-1930. He is proudly performing by standing up and resting his front feet on a large drum. Adorned in a pink hat and ruffled neck-piece, he is very showy. Standing 12" tall, the figurine has no cracks, chips or repairs; the normal paint wear one would find on a item of this age. Great collectible.
