The Blue Ridge Mountain Boys were created by cartoonist Paul Webb and translated into three-dimension by the Imperial Porcelain Corporation of Zanesville, Ohio, in 1947. Produced for only ten years, the mountain boys figural items each created a different and amusing portrayal of mountain life. This character salt and pepper set is "Ma & Old Doc" #97. Standing about 4 3/4" tall, both are dressed in colorful mountain attire, with Ma hold a broom and Doc his medical bag. Both are embossed "P Webb" on the base and although difficult to see "Imperial Porcelain" on the bottom. There are no cracks, chips or repairs; overall light crazing seen with magnification. A great folk art character vintage set.
