The "RS" is derived from its founder, Reinhold Schlegelmilch, but it was the work of his sons, Arnold and Ehrhard that made the mark famous. With factories in Suhl and Tillowitz, a majority of their production was exported from 1892 until the beginning of World War I The Suhl factory closed before the end of World War I; the Tillowitz factory remained operational until the beginning of World War II.
This beautiful relish tray or dish, circa 1910 - 1920, is decorated with dahlia blossoms in shades of soft white and peach with green leaves. The tray is gold trimmed and the has cut-in handles reflect the deco influence. It measures 8 1/4" in length and 4" in width. Marked R.S.Germany in green. There are no cracks, chips or repairs.
