The Doulton & Co. (Ltd), Nile Street, Burslem, Staffordshire, was formed in 1878 with the purchase of the Pinder Bourne & Co. This lovely aesthetic design brown transfer-ware dinner plate set is decorated with an over-all pattern of apple blossom flowers, geometric designs and a central panel depicting a lake scene with geese. Beautiful pattern with oriental influence of the day. The plates measure 9 1/4" across. Marked on the base with the impressed "Doulton Burslem" mark and English registry mark for earthenware August 4, 1880. There are no cracks, chips or repairs, some minor discoloration in crazing lines. I have two additional plates, one with under-rim chip and the other with two under-rim hairline fractures that I will include with the group.
