The A.H.Heisey & Co. was founded in 1895 in Newark, Ohio. From the inception of the business, Heisey glassware was often advertised to be the finest crystal in American that was made by hand. The company ceased operations in 1957. During the period from the late 1930's - 1950's the company produced various Animal and Human figures in the form of stemware and figurines. These wonderful "Rooster Head" cocktail glasses were introduced in 1947 to accompany a cocktail shaker, mentioned below. This 3 1/2 oz. glass is sometimes confused with the #5038 Chanticleer cocktail glass. The glass is 4 1/4" tall and 2 3/4" across the top. The bowl is blown, stem pressed and base cast, the items were not signed. The base of one glass as been professionally ground to remove a small flake and is therefore slightly smaller in diameter than the other five. Also available in my store are two Heisey "Orchid" etched pattern cocktail shakers with Rooster Head stoppers.
