Brown transfer-ware has such a warm, back-to-nature feeling when used or displayed. This brown transfer-ware shallow, wide rimmed serving or soup bowl, circa 1870 - 1890, is nicely decorated with Black-eyed Susan flowers, buds and leaves. It measures 8 1/2" across and 1 3/8" in tall and is unmarked as to maker with the exception of several impressed numbers, 69/9 and printed 5. There are no cracks or repairs; one minor flake under the rim (see photo) and the usual over-all crazing from age. Probably of English origin.
