The Royal Copenhagen Manufactory was established in Denmark in about 1775 by Frantz Henrich Muller. When bankruptcy threatened in 1779, the Crown took charge. Fine dinnerware and objects of art have been produced since that time.
This unique figure is modeled after a "Roach Fish" as it swims gracefully there the sea. The original figurine was sculptured by Francis Valdemar Platen-Hallermundt (1875-1965) who worked for the Royal Copenhagen Company from 1918-1931 and during this time designed numerous fish, bird and animal figurines. The figure measures 3 1/4" in height, 7 3/4" in length and 1 1/2" in width. Stamped on the base "Denmark", three wavy lines, pattern #2676 and the decorators initials. In the word Denmark there is a slash above the M indicating a manufacturing date of 1969-1974. There are no cracks, chips or repairs. A wonderful Danish figure.
