Wedgwood & Co (Ltd) manufactured earthenwares of Tunstall from 1860-1965. This company is not to be confused with Josiah Wedgwood who never used "& Co" or "& Co (Ltd)" in connection with their name.
This gorgeous semi-porcelain, blue transferware soup bowl is the rare "Atalanta" pattern, circa 1906. The wide rim is decorated with a wonderful floral design of poppy blossoms and foliage. The gently scalloped rim is embossed with a delicate beaded trim. Though designated as a soup bowl, it would make a great salad bowl as well. The bowl measures 8 7/8" across, 5 3/8" across the bowl portion and 1 1/2" in height. Printed mark "Royal Semi-Porcelain - Crown - Wedgwood & Co Ltd - England - Atalanta". The (Ltd) was added in 1900. There are no cracks, chips or repairs.
