Gaudy Welsh Cobalt Blue & Copper Lustre "Wagon Wheel" 3 Piece Breakfast Set - image 1 of 15

Gaudy Welsh is an earthenware that over 150 factories have been established as producers during the 19th century. Most Gaudy Welsh was made in England for the American market. Gaudy Welsh is different than Gaudy Dutch. Some of its most popular patterns include Tulip, Oyster, Sunflower, Wagon Wheel, and Grape.

This fabulous Gaudy Welsh 3 piece breakfast set is the "Wagon Wheel" pattern, circa 1875-1890. The color pallet is exceptional with cobalt blue, russet and copper luster. The set consists of a milk/cream pitcher, round deeper bowl and a round, larger, shallow bowl. The pitcher measures 5 7/8" in height; the deeper bowl measures 5 3/4" across the top and 3" in depth; the shallow bowl measures 7 1/2" across and 1 1/4" in depth. The shallow bowl and pitcher is marked with a number "16, the deeper bowl is unmarked. There are no cracks, chips or repairs; some light overall crazing and several light spots where the glaze was thinner. The color and copper lustre is amazing.
