Elegant purses from the early 1800's have been decorated with small colored beads, cut steel beads or created from woven mesh, chain-link mesh and enamel mesh. This great deco purse, circa 1920 - 1930, is completely covered with colored beads of clear, gold, orange, purple, ruby and green. The brass frame has an embossed design and the strap a simple metal chain. The interior has the original cloth lining, some staining, with separate compartment for special items. The overall design is geometric scrolls and stylized florals. The frame and chain has not been cleaned and retains a nice patina. Bead-work is in great condition, with perhaps several missing or loose beads. It measures 7 1/2" long and 4" deep.
