Art porcelain bearing the mark R.S Prussia was manufactured by Reinhold Schlegelmilch, circa 1900 - 1915 in a German area know until the end of WWI known as Prussia.
Beautiful and rare cabinet plate with the "Melon Eaters" pattern on mold #18 ribbon and jewel blank. The center displays two young lads with their dog enjoying fresh apple slices from a full sack and basket, against a country setting of green foliage and pale blue sky. The scene is framed by scrolls of delicate gold beads. On either side is a gold, beaded cartouche displaying multi-colored rose blossoms nestled among soft green leaves. The embossed outer border of pastel pink is decorated an encrusted gold drapery and iridescent jewels.
The plate measures 8 1/2" across and is marked with the red & green star & wreath and "R S Prussia". There are no cracks, chips or repairs; original tracery on white portion is mostly missing; minor gold wear on rim. Super find.
