A.H. Heisey & Company of Newark, Ohio, first introduced the "Orchid" etched pattern in 1940 and it continued in production until the Heisey company closed in 1957. During this time the "Orchid" pattern became Heisey's most popular etching.

Heisey Glass Company designer, Marshall , patented this new bulbous design for a cocktail shaker that became known as the "Marshall Cocktail Shaker" in 1941 which continued to be made until 1957 - from the elegance glass era to the mid-century modern.

The three-piece cocktail shaker has an etched glass body in the "Orchid" pattern and a two-piece stopper/strainer. The strainer portion is a pour spout and strainer and the upper is a traditional glass stopper in the figural form of a Rooster Head.

This design which holds 1 quart of liquid and room for additions, allows a bartender to fill the shaker with ice, beverages and additions; replace the 2 piece top, shake the contents, remove the stopper and pour the drink strained into a glass.

The cocktail shaker measures 14 3/8" in height and 3 1/2" across the base. There are no cracks, chips or repairs; a super find. There is a set of 6 Heisey Rooster Head cocktail glasses also available in my store.
