Jean Pouyat (JPL) Limoges Hand Painted Cabinet Plate w/Colorful Sweet Pea Floral Motif - image 1 of 5

The Pouyat family was one of the oldest French families connected with the Limoges porcelain industry. Jean Pouyat's grandfather has a faience factory in the 1760's.

This lovely hand painted plate was created in a home-studio environment, circa 1915. The motif consists of a colorful array of sweet pea blossoms in pastel shades of pink, white, red and purple nestled among shaded green leaves against a muted mixed background of blue, pink, yellow and green. It is signed by the artist "M. Jorgesen" on the underside.

The plate measures 9" across with stamped mark #5 in green "J P over L over France" circa 1894-1931, designating the Jean Pouyat Limoges Company. There are no cracks, chips or repairs; near mint.
