The "RS" is derived from its founder, Reinhold Schlegelmilch, but it was the work of his sons, Arnold and Ehrhard that made the mark famous. With factories in Suhl and Tillowitz, a majority of their production was exported from 1892 until the beginning of World War I The Suhl factory closed before the end of World War I; the Tillowitz factory remained operational until the beginning of World War II.
This lovely cabinet plate, circa 1910 - 1920, is decorated with multi-colored Carnation blossoms in variegated shades of white, yellow and peach, nestled among shaded green/gray/white foliage against a background of shades soft tan, gray and white. The plate measures 9 3/4" across with cut-in handles and narrow gold edge. It is stamped in blue "R.S. Germany" with wreath and star mark. There are no cracks, chips or repairs; gold wear on edge.
