This wonderful set of 10 Advertising Calendar 1911 Postcards are complete with the exception of the months of January and August. The design was copyrighted in 1910 by A J Scritsmier, Chicago, Illinois and were produced for William Walton Nephews, Clothing, Freeport, Illinois. This dry goods establishment existed from 1858-1937. Each postcard has a paragraph concerning clothing and features a picture of clothing styles from a certain period in history starting in 1650 and extending through 1842. Each style relates to a well known individual from that period and includes William Penn, Benjamin Franklin, Robert Fulton, Henry Clay and others. All the cards hold a one cent stamp, 1911 postmark and were sent to Chas Windecker, Dakota, Ill. They measure 5 1/2" by 3 1/2" with several creases and some wear along the edges, but are in very good condition. A fantastic find in advertising postcards.
