First came the Racine Silver plate company of Racine, WI founded in 1875. After a disastrous fire in 1882, the business moved to Rockford IL under the name of Rockford Silver Plate company. When purchased by Raymond Sheets in 1925 it became the Sheets-Rockford Silver Company until closing in 1956.
This lovely silver plated cracker/biscuit jar has a round body which rests on a collar base and has a ruffled flared top rim. The lid has a round design final and the hinged wire bail handle is adorned with a sculptured finial. The cracker jar is etched in large letters "Crackers" on the side. The cracker/biscuit jar measures 9" in height to the top of the handle, 5 3/4" across at the base of the handle and 4 1/4" across the collar base. It is stamped with the company logo and "Rockford Silver P Co" and "400". There are two minor dents on one side; no missing parts; nice soft glow with moderate age patina.
