The Golden Novelty Mfg Company was located in Chicago, Illinois. According to the information I would find the company operated from 1890-1895. They were primarily noted for the production of iron clock cases and very limited silver plated items.
This lovely silver plated cracker/biscuit jar is quite scarce because of limited production by the company. The round body of the jar rests on a collar base and has a ruffled flared top rim. The lid has a round beaded final and the hinged wire bail handle is adorned with a sculptured finial. The cracker jar is etched in large letters "Crackers" on the side. The cracker/biscuit jar measures 9" in height to the top of the handle, 6 1/4" across at the base of the handle and 4" across the collar base. It is stamped "The Golden Novelty Mfg Co - Chicago IL" and "130". There are no damages or missing parts; nice soft glow with moderate age patina.
