Hand painted china is so beautiful and unique no matter if executed in a factory decorating department, professional studio or small home studio environment, the end result is what really matters. This fabulous hand-painted console bowl from the Arts & Crafts Movement is decorated with an adaptation from the Art Nouveau "Peacocks & Citrus" design created by Mabel C Dibble and presented in the October 1906 issue of Keramic Studio Magazine.

The design is repeated four times around the bowl which rests on a raised collar base. The back-to-back peacock images are in shades of blue, green and antique gold. They are surrounded by intertwining green stems laden with shaded yellow-to-tan citrus fruit nestled among green foliage. Separating this stunning displays is an arts & crafts design in strawberry pink and pastel blue with tiny multi-colored triangular inserts. The top edge has a pastel green band followed by a wider pastel pink band; the base has a pastel green band as the top. The exterior of the bowl is adorned with a mother-of-pearl iridescent finish. This beautiful piece of artwork executed in a small home-studio is signed on the base by the artist "R Beachley".

The white-ware blank is marked "T & V Limoges France", circa 1892-1907. Gustave Vogt and Emilien Tressemanes partnered in the early 1880's. In 1891 they purchased two small porcelain factories in Faubourg Montjovis (Limoges) and produced high quality white-ware for export to the USA. They sold the company in 1919.

The console rests on a raised collar base. It measures 11 1/2" across the top, 5 1/4" in depth and 6 1/2" across the base. There are no cracks, chips, repairs; some very slight wear along the top edge. Near mint. Ready to grace your table for your favorite punch, fruit or healthy leafy green salad.
