Watson & Newell Sterling Silver "Gold Miner" Figural Souvenir Spoon - image 1 of 7

The Watson & Newell Co. Attleboro, Massachusetts, was a major manufacturer of sterling silver flat-ware, souvenir spoons, vanity items and novelties. Founded by Clarence L Watson and Fred A Newell in 1880, it continued until 1955.

This fantastic sterling silver souvenir spoon has a double-sided, full figural sculpture of a "gold miner" holding a huge piece of gold ore in his left hand and mining pick with his right. The bowl is etched with the original owners name. The spoon measures 5 1/4" in length and is marked "Sterling" with the insignia "H" within a pennant flag designating the Mechanics Sterling Co. which was a subsidiary of the Watson & Newell Co. Wonderful vintage condition with light patina.
