Solje is a style of jewelry which is considered the traditional national jewelry of the Scandinavian country Norway. ... Each region of Norway has its own style of Solje. Solje pieces were used, at one time, to add embellishments to the traditional Norwegian costumes, which are called Bunads.

This fabulous wedding brooch, circa 1940-1950, consists of a open heart with crown atop. From the heart are suspended four very detailed filigree pieces of coiled wire in conjoined tear-drop and heart shapes, which support small spoon drops and repousse triangles holding a cross. The brooch measures 2 3/4" in length, 1 1/2" in width and carries the makers hallmark and "830 S". Wonderful vintage condition with no damages and nice patina.
