This fantastic Vienna Art Plate was made by the H.D. Beach Co. The H.D. Beach Co. started business in 1901 in Coshocton, Ohio, at the foot of the Appalachians. In 1904, Henry Beach applied for a patent of a "Metal Plaque"--intended for ornamental advertising purposes. The patent was granted in 1905 for a two layer plate, front and back, crimped together at the outer edges. The Beach Company was one of many such companies producing portrait/ art/ advertising plates at the time Most of the portraits on these plates were close copies of hand painted portraits on porcelain plated produced by Royal Vienna and other makers of such porcelain plates.

This Vienna Art Plate plate features bright rich colors and depicts a beautiful young woman with long, light brown hair, penetrating blue eyes and ruby red lips. She is wearing a red and white gown, large hoop earrings and decorative gold headdress. The border of the plate is cobalt blue with an antique gold ornamental design with light blue jewels. The back of the plate is off-white and has the Vienna Art Plate mark in the center. Inside the mark is the patent date: "Feb. 21st 1905". The plate measures 10" in diameter. Excellent vintage condition with only some wear on the back center rim.
