Hand painted china is beautiful and unique as it portrays the artists emotions and visions for the subject he or she is creating. This gorgeous set of 4 hand painted plates, circa 1900, was created in a small home studio or professional studio environment by a very talented individual with great attention to detail and subject naturalism.
This lovely set of plates is part of an original set of 12 which I am offering in sets of 4 for your convenience. Each plate is an original work of art and no two plates are exactly the same. Some are signed "Woodrow" by the artist and some are unsigned but created by the same individual.
The central motif consists of a branch of shaded pastel pink apple blossoms nestled among variegated green foliage on delicate brown stems against the white porcelain with soft pink, green, yellow and mustard highlights. The fabulous scalloped and scrolled rococco rim is decorated in shades of green matching the foliage with an inter band of brushed gold. The plates measure 8" in diameter and are stamped in green "Souvenir - T&V - France",circa 1892-1907. This set of 4 is also each signed "Woodrow" on the underside. There are cracks, chips or repairs; near mint.
